Haridwar : Haridwar is the gateway to the Char Dhams of Hindus situated in Uttarakhand, namely Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri. Haridwar is also written as Hardwar. Haridwar in Hindi means Dwar of Hari or Gateway to God where 'Hari' means god and 'dwar' means gate. Haridwar is visited by lakhs of devotees every month to take a sacred dip in the holy water of Ganga River. Kumbh Mela will be celebrated after a long span of 12 years in Haridwar in the year 2010. Har-ki-Pauri, Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi are the main attraction of the town. Haridwar is situated 25kms from Rishikesh.
Rishikesh : Rishikesh is a small town in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India. Scenically located where the Ganges River comes down from the Himalayas, Rishikesh catapulted to Western fame when the Beatles dropped by for a visit to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram (now closed), and the town is still known as the World Capital of Yoga. Narendra Nagar : Located at a distance of 20 kilometres from rishikesh, Narendra nagar lies in the Tehri Garhawl district of Uttrakhand and is situated at a height of 1,326 meters above sea level. The town came into existence 1919, when the Tehri Garhawl ruler Maharaja Narendra shah moved his capital to the picturesque location of Odathali or Narendra nagar.

Kunjapuri is temple of Goddess Durga , as it being one of the thirteen Shakti Peethas (Power Centers) in ShivalikRange and one of the three Shakti Peethas in Tehri district established by Jagadguru Shankaracharya. Other two Shakti Peethas in the district are Surkanda Devi and Chandrabadni. Kunjapuri, along with these two peethas form a holy triangle.
Shakti Peethas are the places where body parts of Goddess Sati (incarnation of Goddess Parvati before she took birth as Parvati) fell down while Lord Shiva was carrying her dead body in his arms and roaming unconsciously through the Himalayan ranges of Bharat barsh. There are total of 52 Shakti Peethas around Nepal and India.
The Durga temple Kunjapuri receives thousands of visitors throughout the year but during Navaratras (April and October) there is much flow of devotees. In the Dusshera Festival, one can be part of the grand celebrations at Kunjapuri. The best time for Kunjapuri visit is from May to October.
